Where two countries meet Mountain experiences on the Kanzelwand

Take a seat and ride to the top, while the borders blur below you. The Kanzelwand takes you to a place where two countries come together and open up countless possibilities. Whether summer or winter, on foot or by cable car – the mountain invites you to explore. In winter, skiers and snowboarders make their turns on the perfectly groomed slopes, while hikers enjoy the many trails in summer. The Burmiwasser with its bubbling water games attracts little adventurers. Bigger adventurers can conquer the rocks of the two country via ferrata. Here, between Austria and Germany, not only countries but also the most beautiful days merge into experiences that will be remembered for a long time.

Summer on the Kanzelwand thrilling experiences and mountain adventures

In summer, the Kanzelwand is at its best: The alpine meadows are in full bloom. Anyone hiking between the Kanzelwand and Fellhorn now hikes through a colorful sea of flowers. Especially when the alpine roses are in bloom, the Fellhorn glows a vibrant purple red – the "flower mountain" lives up to its name. Little explorers get their money's worth on the Burmiwasser adventure trail. Water games and exciting stations line the path from the mountain station to the Riezler Alpsee – shining children's eyes and cooling off included! For via ferrata fans, the two-country via ferrata on the Kanzelwand is the highlight – a sporting adventure across the border!

The Kanzelwand at a glance

On the 2,059-metre-high summit of the Kanzelwand, you cross borders with one foot in Germany and the other in Austria! The Kanzelwandbahn cable car, which opened in 1955, takes you almost to the summit in just a few minutes - up to 1,500 people per hour. A real highlight for anyone who wants to quickly immerse themselves in the mountain world of Riezlern.

Once at the top, you can reach the summit in just 20 minutes on foot or start one of the many hikes. Families should not miss the Burmiwasser adventure trail. "Water march" is the motto here at the water wheels and sluices. Via ferrata fans will find their adrenaline kick on the 2-country via ferrata.

After all the adventures, a break is a must: In the panorama restaurant or the Hammerspitzbar, you can enjoy regional specialties and the view over Kleinwalsertal. If you prefer a cozier atmosphere, relax in the Adlerhorst – a rustic hut with traditional dishes.

Numerous hiking trails also lead from the Kanzelwand, such as the descent to Riezlern, the Fellhorngrat to the Söllereck or over the Fiderepass or the Kuhgehrenalpe to Hirschegg and Mittelberg.

The Kanzelwand can be reached from Riezlern quickly and easily accessible from Riezlern. An attractive destination. And therefore often well frequented. This makes it all the more important to follow a few simple rules. The ridge hike from the Fellhorn to the Söllereck, which leads through a nature reserve, is one of the most popular tours. Here – as on all other trails – you should always stay on the marked paths to respect the fragile nature. This way, this beautiful spot will remain a natural paradise for future generations and the animals will have their undisturbed retreat. If we all stick to the rules, we can protect and preserve the Kanzelwand together.
