Schwarzwassertal valley at a glance

The Schwarzwassertal begins where the Schwarzwasserbach steam flows into the Breitach in Riezlern. The longest side valley of the Kleinwalsertal stretches for almost 13 kilometres to the peaks of Grünhorn, Steinmandl and the imposing Hoher Ifen.

The Auenhütte ski and hiking parking lot is located in the heart of the valley and is easily accessible with the Ifen bus line. In winter, skiing fun starts here, while further ahead the Schwarzwasserloipe trail leads through the idyllic Wäldele. Worth seeing are the natural bridge, a fascinating natural monument, and the kettle holes created by erosion. On summer days, the Herzsee lake, nestled in the mountains, invites you to take a refreshing dip.

Among the most beautiful hikes are the tours to the Schwarzwasserhütte, where ascents to the Hohe Ifen, Grünhorn or Steinmandl are worthwhile. Another highlight is the historic Alpe Melköde. The hike along the Schwarzwasserbach stream promises unforgettable nature experiences and exciting insights into the geology of the region.
