A stage for unforgettable experiences A valley surrounded by 36 peaks

Clear the ring for Kleinwalsertal, where 36 impressive peaks form the stage for unforgettable experiences. The mountain world unfolds over a length of just 15 kilometres and a width of six kilometres. A fan of experiences that captivates hikers, climbers and winter sports enthusiasts . The Widderstein rises proudly as the highest peak. Flanked by the striking Ifen, the versatile Kanzelwand and the Walmendingerhorn with its panoramic views – the main protagonists of this alpine arena. These mountains are not only the main arteries of the Kleinwalsertal, but also the hubs where diversity pulsates. Here, where countless hiking trails and ski slopes intersect, you can experience the full range of alpine impressions.

On the tracks of the mountains

The valley is framed by the impressive peaks of the Allgäu Alps. These border the Bregenzerwald mountains in the west, the Lechquellen mountains in the southwest and the Lechtal Alps in the southeast. Millions of years of geological history come to life in Kleinwalsertal in the smallest of spaces, as three major tectonic units have come together here. The rocks of the Widderstein and the Schafalpenköpfe belong to the limestone Alps made of solid dolomite. In the area of the Hoher Ifen and Gottesacker, the Schrattenkalk from the Helvetic period can be seen, which is responsible for the bright karst landscapes and striking rock formations. In between is the softer Penninic flysch, which consists of clay and sandstone and characterizes the green mountains around the Grünhorn, Heuberg and Fellhorn.

These geological differences also influence the flora and fauna. The Gottesacker plateau in particular, with its striking karst landscape, provides a habitat for rare alpine plants. The area is part of the Natura 2000 European nature reserve, which contributes to the preservation of these unique landscapes and their special flora and fauna. The valley's wildlife is also impressive: the Widderstein is the territory of the only pair of golden eagles. And the reintroduced ibex is once again roaming the steep mountain slopes of the Kleinwalsertal.
