The Walmendingerhorn – a mountain of the senses that invites you to marvel and relax.

Summer on the Walmendingerhorn Experience sunrise and summit bliss

The transition from spring to summer is a true explosion of color when the Alpine world blossoms in bright colors. In early summer, the mountain is adorned with a magnificent sea of alpine roses. Numerous mountain flowers thrive on the sun-drenched south-eastern slope in pristine diversity, from the alpine pasqueflower to the gentian. The hiking trails also offer ideal conditions for a peaceful hike over the Walmendinger Alps, a panoramic hike over the Ochsenhoferscharte or an enjoyable hike over numerous farmed alps between mountain and valley. In the summer months, the popular sunrise rides start again – an unforgettable experience.

The Walmendingerhorn – a mountain for all seasons

At 1,990 metres, the Walmendingerhorn is a popular summit in Mittelberg. Since 1966, the Walmendingerhornbahn cable car has taken you comfortably up to almost 2,000 metres. The mountain station was modernized in 2006: A panoramic elevator leads barrier-free to the geo viewing platform. Here you get a premium view of the Widderstein and can see as far as Switzerland in good weather.

Enjoy the panorama on the sun terrace or relax on one of the many benches in the mountain atmosphere. You can also fortify yourself with regional specialties at the mountain station. In winter15 kilometres of varied slopes await you, offering plenty to do for beginners and advanced skiers alike.

In summer, the Alpine flower trail takes you through the world of flowers. On the short but educational trail, you can discover more than 130 different plant species, which are explained along the trail with interesting information and small information boards.

The Walmendingerhorn is also a perfect starting point for hikes. From here, you can set off to Mittelberg, Baad, the Schwarzwasserhütte or Hirschegg – always with a route that suits your pace.
