the guest tax
The landlord charges you €4.40 for each night and each person aged 14 and over as a "guest tax", which is levied by the municipality. The guest tax is not a hidden tax or levy that flows into the general financial pots of the municipality, but a contribution that is used entirely for facilities and services that serve you and are intended to make your vacation more enjoyable. The correct use of this money is even monitored separately by the state.
