The freedom of ski touring Glistening powder or soft firn

It's also worth taking a look over the edge of the slope. What a liberating feeling it is to make the first tracks. Snow-covered forests, hilly terrain, tempting north-facing slopes – of course, you can only reach the really great insider tips under your own steam. But that means skinning up and gliding through the snow. Onwards and upwards. Towards the summits and the descent through glistening powder or butter-soft firn. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can use the mountain cable cars to help them get to the top and enjoy the deep snow. Ski tourers and freeriders love the Kleinwalsertal for a reason: the snow hole often still has snow until April and offers racy variants and beginner-friendly pleasure runs.

For your safety & health Safe and responsible on the road

Learning from the pros

Your start into the world off the slopes with mountain guides who have gained experience on numerous tours. They give you access to (almost) limitless deep snow fun. Our guides will teach you everything you need to know about safe ascents and descents in alpine terrain. They pass on essential knowledge about the planned route, the avalanche situation, the topography and the slope. Correctly assessing alpine dangers requires a lot of knowledge and experience. Are you starting out as a beginner or do you already go on tours regularly? Either way, the courses will expand your know-how. On the tours, you will receive advice on skiing, splitboarding and touring techniques, which may enable you to ski independently in undeveloped terrain in the future. The spark for freeriding is sure to be ignited and can unfold under professional guidance. Together you will explore the highlights of Kleinwalsertal – your mountain guide knows every corner of the area. Here you will find all courses and guided tours.

Safety equipment

A safe off-piste tour requires good planning and functional safety equipment. The ski touring rucksack contains a change of clothes and food. You will also need an avalanche transceiver, a probe, a shovel, a first aid kit and a helmet. You wear the avalanche transceiver system directly on your body. In addition to tour planning, which takes into account your own ability and that of your companions as well as the weather and avalanche situation, you also need to be experienced in handling the equipment. Regular practice with avalanche transceivers, shovels and probes is essential. An avalanche course provides you with the necessary knowledge of how to use this equipment and trains your behavior in the terrain. If you don't have your own equipment, there are many rental stores in Kleinwalsertal where you can hire some. Safety first, so you can relax and enjoy the pristine winter landscape!

Every turn out there leaves its mark. Ski touring and freeriding give you a feeling of boundless freedom in the middle of untouched mountains. Such an experience brings with it responsibility for yourself, for others and for everything that lives and grows.  Plan your tours carefully and respect the wildlife sanctuaries and forest/wildlife protection areas in Kleinwalsertal. In addition to the avalanche situation and weather, you should know where animals are allowed to retreat. Perhaps you will meet our ranger Anna, who will give you more tips and information about the flora and fauna. When ski touring and freeriding, we are particularly enthusiastic about nature where no one has ever left a trace. Thanks to your and our thoughtful behavior, this is exactly what is preserved.
