Would you like to lend a hand and actively maintain the natural and cultural landscape in Kleinwalsertal? The volunteer activities are an invitation to immerse yourself in a natural and cultural landscape worth protecting and to make a contribution to preserving regional cycles and functioning ecosystems.
Background to the campaign Why is something like this needed?
The charming landscape in Kleinwalsertal is partly due to centuries of small-scale agriculture and alpine farming. By alternating between meadows, pastures, moors and forest in combination with different cutting times and forms of use, numerous niches have been created for a large number of animal and plant species. Where forests would otherwise dominate, there are open habitats with meadows and pastures with an impressive diversity of species. Without care and management, scrub encroachment would quickly occur, leading to a decline in habitats and species. Conversely, intensification with increased use of machinery and fertilizers would also endanger the diversity of nature.
Lend a hand yourself! What are your tasks?
As part of the volunteer campaigns, interested people have the opportunity to lend a hand themselves. Together, we can make a valuable contribution to preserving the cultural landscape and get to know the natural environment from a different perspective.
The action days call for volunteers who are happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. In concrete terms, this means
- Clearing alpine areas of young growth and stones
- Maintenance and renovation of hiking trails
- Supporting reforestation measures
- Removing invasive plants and creating space for native species
- Maintenance of moorland areas (fallow land)
- Restoration of old willow stone walls
Get involved!
It takes a lot of helping hands - let's get to work together in Kleinwalsertal! And you can probably already imagine how good the snack tastes after the work is done.
The dates for 2025 will follow shortly.
