Mountain route from Walmendingerhorn into the Schwarzwassertal
Tour description
This scenic mountain route from the summit of the Walmendingerhorn follows a high-altitude path above the Duratal via the Ochsenhofer Scharte down into the Schwarzwassertal. The character of the route in the first section is shaped by the grassy mountains of the Derra and Duratal valleys, while the second section in the Schwarzwassertal is marked by an impressive diversity of alpine vegetation.
This mountain route leads from the summit of the Walmendingerhorn initially on a wide hiking trail somewhat steeply, then gently downhill along the grassy slopes of the Ochsenhofer heads above the Duratal, passing the Upper Lüchlealp. The gradient of the high path increases from here and leads to the Ochsenhofer Scharte. Up to the Ochsenhofer Scharte, the hike is characterised by mountain meadows and grassy mountains in the Derra and Duratal valleys. From the Ochsenhofer Scharte, the mountain path leads downwards to the Schwarzwasserhütte. Here, the rocky plateau of the Hoher Ifen dominates the landscape. From the Schwarzwasserhütte, the path, marked by an impressive diversity of alpine vegetation, goes down to the Melköde Alp. Then on a wide alpine path out of the Schwarzwassertal to the Ifenbahn car park.
