sulfur spring

If you take the Breitachweg to Riezlern after the Leidtobel bridge, you will reach the old sulfur spring in about ten minutes.

"Mineral Spring Höll" is the place where a well and resting benches are located. Already several hundred years ago, the Walser people obtained this water. The healing properties against rheumatism, respiratory diseases, and circulatory disorders were certainly known to them. The village of Baad also had such a spring, but it dried up around 1860. The sulphur spring "In der Höll" was newly tapped in 1966, and a scientific report was commissioned from the University of Freiburg. This refers to a so-called cold sulphur spring. The water seeps from a niche in the flysch rock and is bacteriologically impeccable. The smell of hydrogen sulphide is clearly detectable. And since it is said that it also smells of sulphur in hell, the Walser people named this healing spring by the Breitach "in der Höll."
