Tour description
This winter hike starts in Riezlern and leads on a scenic winter hiking trail above Hirschegg to Mittelberg.
Starting from Riezlern, the hike, turning off the main road in front of the Xond farm with a view of the Widderstein, passes through the Hirschegg district Letzte. From there, on a prepared, steeply ascending winter hiking trail up to a panoramic ridge trail. This offers views of Hirschegg with the Ifen and Mittelberg with Bärenkopf and Widderstein. After passing a short but quite steep ravine, the panoramic trail continues relatively flat to the Mittelberg district Höfle. From here, it goes past the Alpenblick guesthouse, following the road on the Höflerweg, over the Höflerbrücke, and steeply ascending.

The Höflerbrücke was built in 1891 by Josef Heim. In 1907, it was destroyed by an avalanche disaster. This massive avalanche from the Heuberg swept away two houses over 500 years old and 9 cattle stables with a total of 42 cows in the hamlet of Ahorn. 10 of the 15 residents who were in the supposedly safe house did not survive the disaster. The carpenter Josef Heim rebuilt the Höflerbrücke for the second time in spring 1907. In August 2005, it was again washed away by flooding in the Breitach. The river also caused significant damage to the banks and walking paths during the flood.
