Tour description

The walk leads from the Walserhaus in Hirschegg via the street "Am Berg" up to the natural Kneipp facility at Rohrweg. From here the hike leads with a beautiful view on the height towards the valley. Along the Rohrweg past Rohrsee, the snowmaking pond for the Heuberg ski area. At the end of Rohrweg it goes down into the Hirschegg district Ahorn. From there, follow Ahornweg and through the Hirschegg district Dürenboden before going down to the Breitach path. The hiking trail leads, always next to the Breitach, downstream over the Leidtobel bridge and past a sulfur spring with a fountain and resting benches. After crossing the Breitach twice more, it goes up to the state road and then continues climbing to the panorama trail. From there above the state road back to the Walserhaus in Hirschegg.

Tips

The water treading pool at Rohrweg in Riezlern is one of the nature experience spots in Kleinwalsertal and invites you to linger. The nature experience spots are popular quiet zones in the hiking trail network. The beautifully located natural Kneipp area at Rohrweg includes a water treading pool with loungers and offers a fantastic view over Hirschegg.

The sulfur spring "Mineral Spring Höll" on the Breitach was already used by the Walser several hundred years ago. The water from the spring is believed to have healing effects against rheumatism, respiratory diseases, and circulatory problems. This sulfur spring was newly tapped in 1966 and a scientific report was obtained from the University of Freiburg. It describes a so-called cold sulfur spring. The water emerges in a niche in the flysch rock and is bacteriologically clean. The smell of hydrogen sulfide is clearly noticeable.
